Hi Frands

It's been quite the time since graduation. This bear got run down by the struggle bus, but is working on making things better.

I was supposed to be able to be playing (or whatever) again by August, but there were complications with my knee and I ended up having to get steroid shots. I'm finally not in pain, but I've lost a depressing amount of strength and muscle. It's been over a year since I've been able to be active.

Anyway, this blog is right on time, because today I went to the pool to start swimming again. (I swam in jr/high school.) It felt really good to readjust to being in the water again, and I'm really looking forward to going back.

If anyone wants to go swimming with me, let me know! I can guest you in at the Aquatic Center. :)

TG it's FRIDAY

YO FRIENDS. This is funnnn. So I am trying to run the 10 mile Broad Street run in Philly with my dad and sister who both have 2+ half marathons under their belts. And as we all know....I HATE RUNNING. But I have been able to make some progress slowly but surely. Anywho. Yesterday I ran 4.5 miles. I did not want to go to the gym and I was very slow. But I went anyways because I knew I was going to eat a SHIT-TON. I will post my food, but it will not be healthy. And I am okay with that. No blueberry greek yogurt for me. Coffee errrday Broccoli cheese quiche leftovers for lunch An ORANGE Various chocolates (I have candy/snacks in my office for my students but I always EAT ALL OF THEM!!) 3 Tostadas ($1 Tostadas at Viva Mexico) and chips/salsa Various cakes (pecan, chocolate cake, and carrot cake) for Julio's bday. SO obviously I eat a lot of sweets. I should work on that. huh.

The Beginning Is a Very Good Place to Start

I admit that Jan 1 and 2 were not the most auspicious start to the year. I was mildly sick and didn't get any real workouts in.

However, TODAY is January 3 and TODAY I begin my own campaing for a fresh bod in this new year.

Foods of the day:
- Greek yogurt of the blueberry variety
- peppermint tea
- broccoli, lima beans, spicy black bean cake, broccoli and cheese soup
- craisins
- ground beef and sweet potatoes
- five glasses of seltzer water

Exercises of the day:
- I'm doing a challenge with my friend Devon to be able to do 100 push-ups in a row, so I did my daily work on that goal. It was a total of 25 (decidedly NOT in a row) for this morning.
- In the PM, went for a 6.5 mile run. I had taken a brief holiday snow-induced hiatus from running, so was pleased with my ability to complete the endeavor.

I'm so happy to be a part of this blog! I will remain inspired now and hopefully indeed achieve my new fresh bod.

New year, FRESH BODS

Wanted to start this new year fresh!
Everyone says that I know I know, but figuring how fucked my family is cardiovascular-ly- I think now's the time to really create healthy habits as an adult.
College was somewhat easier because there was rugby constantly, and boy was I in the best shape of my life.

Now I got to be more active, accountable, and work!
Got a big of a gradual shock of my life when I kinda let myself go after Brown.
Figured I deserved a break you know?
Well,
BREAK OVER.
I'm happy to do this and I'm even happier to do this with friends.

Keeping a blog is super cheesy, but also super awesome.
Awesome cheeses.
That said,
I'm excited to be healthier and happier with my friends no matter where we are!
And I hope we can keep this running for a long time even as we get busy.
It only takes like 5 minutes tops to write a post about your day, what you ate, and how you worked out.
There's really no excuses :P
Just like there's really no excuses not to be in better shape if we're knowledgeable young people.

The dream is for us to grow old and be strong women- isn't it?
And if any of us fall off the bandwagon, we can really hold each other accountable after.
It's what Brown rugby does.
:)

BWRFCLove,
Maimai
